Our Team of Therapy Horses (and former members)
Rumor
Sorrel Quarter Horse Mare
Born 5/1/2004 15 hands
This beautiful are was purchased by Anne as a green 5 year old. Rumor was very resistive and sensitive as well as extremely reactive. Anne has spent many hours working with Rumor using various training methods, and the result is the wonderful, well trained horse that is a founding member of our therapy horse team. Rumor is trained to ride western but also does tricks and liberty work. Her favorite trick is sticking her leg out and you will often see her doing this at feeding time or when she knows you have treats. Rumor has traveled coast to coast and has even swum in the pacific ocean and camped in the Rocky Mountains. Rumor loves treats and scratches on her neck.
Magnum
Chestnut Quarter Horse Mare
Born 4/27/2012 15 hands
Magnum was purchased by Anne in 2017 as a finished Reiner. Magnum also had been on the expo circuit with John and Josh Lyons.
Since being here she has been used as a lesson horse, ridden trails, and done sorting. Because of her nature and her dependability, Magnum is the cornerstone of our therapy horse program.
Magnum is very well trained with a lot of buttons; she is very sweet and polite, easy to handle, and she is also a first-time Mom! Magnum foaled a beautiful filly named Izzy in March of 2020.
Brienne
Bay Draft Cross Mare
Born Approx. 2005 16 hands
Brienne came to us in March 2020 as a beginner safe riding and driving horse.
We don’t know anything about her history or even for sure what type of draft she is, though likely she is part Belgian. Shortly after Brienne arrived her rather large belly drew a lot of interest. A vet check confirmed suspicions that Brienne was expecting a baby.
On May 4, 2020 she gave birth to a rather large bay colt named Obi.
Brienne is gentle and can be ridden or driven by beginners.
Whiskey
Buckskin Quarter Horse Gelding
Born 2/14/2016 15 hands
Anne bought Whiskey in 2018 as a 2 year old with only 8 rides on him. He’s had many more rides under his belt now and has even had some reining training.
His favorite training though is the clicker training Anne has done with him.
Whiskey knows many tricks such as pushing a ball, sticking his tongue out, giving hugs, laying down, and more. He is also learning liberty work. Whiskey can be very playful and mischievous, but he can also be very lazy. Whiskey is a big ham and loves attention.
He wants all eyes on him!
Gypsy
Black Sabino Rabicano Tennessee Walking Horse Mare
Born 4/1/2004 15 hands
Gypsy is owned by our own Jennifer Kuhn. In June 2020 Jennifer offered to give Gypsy a home as her owner had died leaving all the horses in a trust with hopes that they could find forever homes.
Whilst Gypsy is still completing her training, she does enjoy being ridden on the trails and has been swimming in the lake.
It takes this lovely girl a minute to trust, but once she is comfortable Gypsy is very affectionate and loves attention.
Merlin
Cremello Quarter Horse Gelding
Born Approx. September 2018
13.3 hands
Also owned by Jennifer, Merlin was rescued in June 2019 as a 9 month old colt that was in very poor condition. Born free range in South Dakota and with no prior handling, Merlin proved to be willing, intelligent, and keen to learn. It wasn't long at all before Merlin decided he really liked people! Today Merlin hardly looks like the same horse; he has filled out, matured, and he absolutely loves attention - wanting to always be right in the middle of everything!.
Merlin does in hand obstacles and is learning to drive. Eventually he will be trained under saddle, but right now he’s still growing.
Lily
Cremello Mustang Mare
Born 1999
15 hands
Lily was born wild in the Warm Springs Canyon herd management area in Nevada; in December 2000 she was part of a BLM round up and she was finally adopted in February of 2003.
When Jennifer purchased Lily in May of 2018 she was told only that the mare had done a lot of trails. Lily has proven to be quiet under saddle, great on obstacles and excellent on the trails. Lily has a beautiful, soft trot that is easy for even the most novice or timid rider to enjoy. She’s been swimming several times and seems to enjoy it.
Treats and scratches are the key to making friends with Lily!
Maggie
Grey Miniature Mare
Born Approx. 2005
38 inches
Maggie was surrendered to a rescue early in 2020 and Jennifer fostered Maggie as a horse to train in hopes of helping her find a new home; however Jen soon realized that parting with Maggie would be next to impossible and so Maggie had found her forever home with Jen!
Although Maggie can be a bit timid at first, once you have her confidence she is a very willing little horse who is very affectionate.
Maggie does obstacle in hand and is learning to drive.
Jasmine
Grey Pinto Miniature Mare
Born 6/22/2007
36 inches
Jennifer bought Jasmine in April 2020. Her sire is a champion stallion and a world top ten producer and his daughters are extremely sought after for breeding. Jasmine however never seemed to get pregnant and was eventually sold into a pet home, hoping it would be her forever home.
Unfortunately her owners could no longer keep her and Jennifer offered to be her forever home.
Jasmine is a sweet girl with a bit of spunk. She does obstacles in hand and is learning to drive. Her beautiful long mane and tail, and cute dished head, make her every little girl’s dream!
Izzy
Grey Quarter Horse Filly
Born 3/16/2020
Izzy was born at Anne’s house and her dam is Magnum.
She really enjoys being with people and loves attention. Izzy is already halter trained and will lay down when asked.
Don’t let her sweetness fool you, she can be a little toot!
Izzy was born Dunalino (palomino plus dun) but she also has the grey gene so she will lose her coat color until she appears white.
While her dam, Magnum, and her sire, Dunit in Platinum, are both reining bred, Izzy will likely become Anne’s all around horse.
